This time, I brought a few hungry helpers with me so I could try twice as many sandwiches. Food writing isn't always just a one-woman job, y'know. (Internships are available, in case you were wondering; unpaid, of course. Are you crazy?)
Wouldn't you know it, two of my assistants shared a brisket sandwich after reading yesterday's post. But, we did try two other sandwiches and they were fantastic.
Reuben ($10.50)
Good for: Hangovers probably – add egg or bacon for maximum effectiveness.
Highlights: Best corned beef outside of Ireland. People who don't even like corned beef will like it; it's that good, and it's piled mile high. Bread is toasty and buttery – once again Masterpiece Deli provides bread that's more than just a container for meat.
ROASTED VEGETABLE ($8.50)
Good for: Vegetarians, duh. And pretty much everyone else. Best when eaten outside and people-watching in summer. Add turkey for a contradictory, yet satisfying experience.
Highlights: The tapenade. The tangy, unique flavor gets more interesting, not less, with each bite. The vegetables are also awesome, well-prepared and flawlessly seasoned.
