Fork & Spoon is owned by sisters Helen Patterson and Nancy Brady, who are also the owners of City Grille (several times lauded for having Denver's Best Burger), which is right next door on Colfax. The two restaurants are markedly different in a number of ways. City Grille serves hearty lunch and dinner favorites, where Fork & Spoon focuses on big breakfasts with local twists, like the cayenne pecan maple syrup in the "Lo-Col Chicken and Waffles," the chorizo in the "Capitol Hill Burrito," and the pervasive use of other local street names (Washington, Pearl, Corona).
Sassafrass features beautifully executed Southern favorites like biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, grits and more, first at their Jefferson Park location and now in Capitol Hill.
Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for my full review of Fork & Spoon in a Denver publication. But until then, you'll just have to take my word for it that the food is, in a word, awesome.
